Selling websites with Pindrop? Read their own numbers first.

Pindrop publishes its own pricing study and its own payout rules. Here is what they say, and how PinPoint works instead.

In short

Pindrop's own pricing study counts 410 prices from 191 builders as of October 7, 2026, and only 16 of them have been paid by the business owner so far. Pindrop's help center says the client's subscription is with Pindrop, payouts follow a 90/10 split, and an owner's change request left unanswered for 14 days means Pindrop takes that client over. On PinPoint Pro your client pays straight into your own Stripe account and we receive 5% of the website price and 5% of each month of hosting.

If you sell websites to local businesses, you have probably seen Pindrop. Before you build a book of clients on any app, read what that app publishes about itself. On October 7, 2026 we read three of Pindrop's own pages. This is what they say.

410 prices, 16 paid

Pindrop runs a website pricing study built from the prices its own builders set for real local businesses. As of October 7, 2026 it counts 410 prices from 191 builders. The median build fee asked is $500 and the median monthly charge asked is $50 a month.

Then comes the line that matters. In Pindrop's words, only 16 of these prices have been paid by the owner so far. That is 16 out of 410, about 4 percent.

Pindrop's homepage the same day counted 5,403 websites built and 1,838 live. An asking price is not a sale, and a built site is not a paying client. An app that builds a site fast does half the job. The other half is getting the owner to pay.

Whose client is it?

Pindrop's help center is clear about who holds the client: the client's subscription is with Pindrop, and payouts follow a 90/10 split, so the seller keeps 90%.

If you stop paying for your Pindrop plan, the help center says the client's site stays live and your 90% keeps being paid out, with one condition: you keep looking after the client. If an owner's change request sits unanswered for 10 days you get a warning, and at 14 days Pindrop takes that client over and your share on that client ends.

That rule protects the business owner, and it is fair to them. It also tells you who the relationship really belongs to.

How PinPoint works instead

PinPoint was developed from the app our own sales people have been using for over a year.

PinPoint finds the businesses near you with no website, builds each one a finished site in minutes from its own Google listing, and when the owner says yes you send a secure checkout link and get paid.

  • On PinPoint Pro, your client pays straight into your own Stripe account. We receive 5% of the website price and 5% of each month of hosting.
  • On PinPoint Lite, the client's payment is made to us. We keep 10% of the website price and 10% of each month of hosting and send you the rest, less the card processing fee, 7 days after the client pays.
  • You set your own price for each website and its monthly hosting, as long as hosting is at least $24 a month.
  • You set the price, you keep the client, and the site carries your name.

Three questions to ask any website app

  • Who does the client pay, and whose account is the money in?
  • What happens to your clients if you stop paying for the app?
  • How many of the sites built on it have actually been paid for?

Ask them of every app, including ours. The answers to ours are on the PinPoint page, in PinPoint Lite vs Pro and in the PinPoint terms.
