What is TapHonest? NFC review cards for a small business, explained

How a tap-to-review card works, what comes with it, and what it costs on its own or inside a Growth Plan.

In short

TapHonest is a branded NFC and QR card that a technician hands a customer after a job. A tap or scan opens the business's Google review page directly, with no searching required. It costs $497 one-time plus $19 a month on its own, or comes included at no extra cost in every PMV Growth Plan.

A customer just paid an invoice and is already walking back to their car. That is the moment a review either gets asked for or does not. An NFC review card for a small business is built for exactly that moment: a small branded card a technician hands over, and a tap or scan takes the customer straight to the business's Google review page. No typing the business name into a search bar, no hunting for the right listing. PMV Digital Marketing's version of this is called TapHonest, and it is worth understanding what it actually does before deciding whether it fits your business.

What is TapHonest

TapHonest is a branded card, about the size of a standard business card, with an NFC chip embedded inside and a QR code printed on the front. A customer taps the card against the back of their phone, or scans the QR code with their camera, and their phone opens a browser straight to the business's Google review page. The card does not collect payment, does not log any personal information, and does not require an app. It is a shortcut from "the job is done" to "here is where to leave a review," nothing more.

How the tap or scan actually works

NFC, short for near-field communication, is the same short-range chip technology used in contactless payment cards. Most phones sold in the last several years can read an NFC tap without an app open, just by holding the phone near the chip. For older phones or phones with NFC turned off, the printed QR code on the same card does the same job through the camera. Either way, the customer lands on the same review page. The card itself carries no moving parts and needs no charging or signal of its own.

What comes with a TapHonest order

TapHonest is not just a blank card with a chip inside. It includes:

  • Card design built around the business's branding
  • Chip encoding so the tap opens the correct Google review link every time
  • Technician scripts, so staff have a short, natural way to ask for the review when they hand the card over
  • A monthly report showing how many times the cards were tapped or scanned

The technician scripts matter more than they might sound. A card left on a counter without being mentioned gets picked up far less often than one handed over with a short sentence attached. Having a script ready removes the guesswork for a new hire or a technician who is not naturally the "ask for a review" type.

What TapHonest costs

On its own, TapHonest is $497 one-time plus $19 a month. That covers the card design and chip encoding up front, and the monthly tap reporting and link management going forward. For a business that already has a website and a Google Business Profile handled elsewhere and just wants the review cards, this is the standalone option.

TapHonest is also included at no extra cost in every Growth Plan: Get Found, Get Chosen, and Get Booked. Get Found at $397 a month rebuilds a Google Business Profile, posts weekly, and responds to reviews, with TapHonest included. Get Chosen at $647 a month adds a Professional Custom Website on top of that. Get Booked at $897 a month adds a booking system, BookedFlow, on top of Get Chosen. A business already on one of these plans does not pay separately for TapHonest at all.

Where TapHonest fits with reviews in general

A card by the register is one piece of asking for reviews consistently. It works alongside other habits, like asking in person right after a job and following up by text or email for jobs done off-site. An earlier post on getting more Google reviews covers some of those other habits in more detail. The card's job is narrow and specific: once someone has decided to leave a review, it removes every extra step between that decision and the review actually getting posted.

Reviews also do not do much good if the Google Business Profile behind them is thin, with missing categories or a stale service area. If that sounds familiar, a prior post on why a business isn't showing on Google Maps walks through what to check on the profile itself.

Deciding between standalone and a Growth Plan

A business that only wants the review cards, and already has its website and Google Business Profile work handled, can order TapHonest on its own for $497 one-time plus $19 a month. A business that wants the profile rebuilt, posts written, and reviews responded to as well will usually find it is included once they are already paying for Get Found, Get Chosen, or Get Booked, with no separate line item for the cards. Full pricing for every plan, including the one-time $497 setup fee on Growth Plans that is waived through the end of 2026, is on the pricing page. The Google Maps ranking page has more detail on what the Get Found rebuild itself covers.

Either way, the card itself does the same job: it takes the moment right after a job is finished, when a customer is most willing to say something, and removes every step between that willingness and a posted review.
